TOURISM IN CHECACUPE

CRADLE OF THE ARTISTS AND THE CONDOR PASA.

The tourist offer that Checacupe has is impressive in the cultural and artistic field. It is also the owner of a nature that offers possibilities in ecological tourism, and even ethnological - landscape, and even ethnological - esoteric, and adventure, which to date have been little or not taken advantage of.

CHACACUPE COLONIAL BRIDGE

Built in the 17th century, its structure is lime and stone, it is shaped like a semicircular arch, mounted on its solid walls of natural rocks. The bridge is located over the Putimarca River; Adjacent to the bridge you can see the bases of an Inca bridge, and another of rails from the time of the republic.
This bridge fulfilled its function for many years, giving way to the first coal engines that arrived from Arequipa to Cusco.

ANCAWACHANA:

The place in question has a name that means eagle's nest, and is located several dozen meters above the cemetery called “toqoqaqa”. Ancawachana is also a cemetery but of very small dimensions. Seen from the outside, the entrance to this cavity is very narrow and small, going unnoticed by the sharpest and most penetrating gaze. In Ancawachana there are no archaeological remains

CERAMICS:

In the middle of a conglomerate of bones, three valuable pieces of plain Chanapata ceramics were found, they are roughly made due to the remains of soot, they belong to kitchen utensils.
Textile: pieces of white cotton fabric with brown stripes and very thin and fine warp were found. The colors used are blue, cobalt, white, maroon and another one.
Mummy: at the bottom of the cave – Ankahuachan cemetery, and leaning against the rock wall, a mummy was located in a fetal position. She did not have any dress, but from her footprints it is clear that if she had one, it is likely that she was inside a funeral basket. On the head of this mummy you can see some hair and one of the auricular appendages, in the latter you can see the shape of the folds and an earring placed in a large hole made in the lobe; It seems that the earring is made of reed pulp, vegetable leaf or some other similar material.
